New Delhi A city-based private eye hospital claims to have reduced the treatment time for LASIK surgery vision corrections to less than 10 seconds per eye using an AI-powered predictive mechanism for accuracy.
Doctors said the technology analyses thousands of data points to create customised treatment strategies for individual patients. This enables surgeons to forecast surgical results before conducting the procedure. The technological solution was remarkably reliable, with its success rate consistently achieving between 99 and 100 percent accuracy, claimed doctors.
Dr Mahipal S Sachdev, chairman and medical director, Centre for Sight, noted that myopia is becoming a worldwide issue, with projections indicating that by 2050, half of the global population will be myopic. The fastest and safest LASIK laser technology available today allows us to correct vision in just 10 seconds per eye, and the overall procedure takes only about 10 minutes. By combining advanced AI-driven eye tracking with high-speed LASIK laser treatment, we are ensuring that patients receive the fastest, safest, and most effective vision correction available today.
Dr Ritika Sachdev, director of the hospital, explained that certain groups are ineligible for LASIK surgery, including individuals under 18 years, those with unstable power, and people with weak corneas. She noted that previous technology operated at a frequency of 700, marking this as a substantial improvement. The AI technology generates virtual eye images pre-surgery, allowing surgeons to assess outcomes and determine patient suitability.
